Self Doubt

January 1st. Goal: "I will sit down and write my very first blog post for Voices of Hope”.


January 1st turned into January 24th and still nothing. In that time I came up with a few concepts but nothing felt "good enough", "perfect", "right". 

It got me thinking about how many times have I and we as humans let an opportunity get away from us by our own self doubt? 

What I'd instead of waiting for the right time, the right idea, the right scenario..what if we focused on the here and now. Focused on bettering the here and now. The present moment. Breathe in. Breathe out. What can I do right in this very moment to get closer to my goal? 

Progress is all about steps in the right direction. They don't have to be big steps. Small steps is enough. Any step even a millimetre is progress. Sometimes taking a step forward is scary. Sometimes it's hard. Sometimes you might feel like you can't do it. If you feel it's too much know one said you couldn't just stand where you are-just don't unpack and live there. Stand still for a moment. Give yourself time. Think to yourself "what is stopping me?" Tend to those needs and when you're ready take another step. Focus on your goals, your reasons, your drive. Let that fuel you. 

As I've found, a collection of little steps in the right direction adds up. Until one day you look back and marvel at how far you've come.

Celebrate your victories.  Start small and build your way up. Be proud of yourself. Validate yourself. Be your own cheerleader. 

Life can be difficult. It can be really, really, really hard. Especially when you add a mental illness into the mix it can be incredibly overwhelming. But know that you are worthy of having a life worth living. 

You are worthy of a life without suffering. You are worthy of happiness. You are worthy of all the good in the world. You are worthy of recovery. No matter what life throws at you remember you. 

Remember your ambitions, your dreams, your goals. Remember that although you might not have control over your circumstances you have control over how you respond to them. Is it difficult? Yes. Is it possible? YES. 

You have the power within you to achieve whatever it is you want to achieve. In difficult times remind yourself that you CAN do it. In happier times remind yourself that you DID it.

Life can be challenging but keep focusing on the things within your control, take steps to build your happiness and celebrate your milestones-no matter how big or small. 

I believe in you. You can do it!


And with that I give to you my very first blog post on Voices of Hope. I hope that my future posts captivate you, inspire you and add value to your life. 
My goal: completed. Now I will celebrate.
