It's Not Weak to Speak - Suicide Prevention

THREE LOCATIONS - CHRISTCHURCH -WELLINGTON - AUCKLAND. Dates below.

Voices of Hope present 'It's Not Weak to Speak', an event focused on the practical things we can do to improve our mental health with the aim of helping reduce the number of suicides in New Zealand.

New Zealand holds the highest youth suicide rate per capita in the world. While the conversation about suicide is beginning to happen, we believe that its time to voice a solution.

The event will feature a panel including a psychologist, a mentor, a parent and someone who has battled themselves. As well as this, our very own Jazz Thornton from Voices of Hope will be the keynote speaker sharing her story about how she made it to where she is today. Guest speakers will be announced over the next few weeks.

We feel thankful to have the support and partnership of Hopewalk on our mission to start providing practical tips for those struggling and also to encourage those who are in support of change to speak up.

HOPEWALK Christchurch

Our very own Jazz Thornton will be heading to Christchurch to speak at HopeWalk.

HOPEWALK is a movement to bring greater awareness around the issue of suicide and promote suicide prevention.
In 2016 we saw approximately 3000 people walk for awareness in South Auckland and 2000 walk in Mission bay and thousands around New Zealand and Australia and we are now looking for more champions to walk with us again so we can #BreakTheSilence. Together we are stronger! #WalkWithUs

This years Christchurch HOPEWALK will be held in special dedication to Tama Eminukutepua, a man who left and led a legacy of HOPE.
R.I.P. to our brother in solidarity for suicide prevention.

Rewilding - California

Jazz and Gen are excited to have been asked to speak in Santa Barbara, California at Rewilding.

"REWILDING is a human being retreat we created by pooling our Wolf Pack’s expertise, joy, and research together – a multi-dimensional experience we truly believe is for anyone and everyone. While many retreats, adult camps and speaking-based seminars tout their ability to help you innovate in your work life, to help you spark fresh ideas, and to network, REWILDING is wholly different. Happiness, creativity and systemic changes in your work AND your personal life rarely start with work tools, they start with a focus on mind, body and being a part of the whole. And a healthy amount of playing, getting dirty, and communing with nature and friends."

How to Fight

We are excited to have partnered in with Westfield Albany to put on our very first Voices of Hope event. How to Fight will be a night where both Gen and Jazz will share their stories, what they went through but more importantly how they fought to get through. We also have an incredible panel joining us, from a psychologist to a teenager who learnt how to fight. It will be a night of both inspiration, but also information on how as a society we can come together and combat our suicide statistics. RSVP for this event goes live soon.
