Thank you for the work you do, it makes me feel like I am not alone on this journey and that there is a life out there worth fighting for. “”

This is one of the many messages we have received and the reason we do what we do. Since our launch in 2017 we have put out videos, campaigns, blogs, stories, travelled around schools as well as held our own events and spoken at other events internationally. We are incredibly passionate about this and are so thankful for all the love, support and volunteers that we have on board to help us make this all possible. 

Creating constant content does cost us and we really don’t want to slow down as what we are doing seems to be impacting people on a large scale. We want to be able to continue doing what we are and in order to do so we need your support. Your financial contribution can help us on our journey to keep saving lives. Any amount helps and ALL proceed will go toward content creation for Voices of Hope.
We often receive messages from people asking how they can get on board and this is something that would be so helpful.

2015...I was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder, just before my 16th birthday in March 2015. Everything had stopped and going to school was unthinkable at that stage. I remember my first admission to hospital and I was in the Child, Youth, and Family Unit at Starship Hospital. I was not aware of what was going on, let alone realising that I was being treated in a hospital. I had no idea what “mental illness” and “bipolar disorder” was and what it was doing to me. I remember wanting to just stay in bed and not get out because I just had no motivation or energy to do so. My time in the unit consisted of major ups and downs and things like taking a blood test would trigger me to go down a depressive episode and going to a concert would trigger me to go into the manic phase. I remember being in the manic phase was an experience that made me feel like I was on top of the world and that nothing could stop me. While the depressive episode would cause me to have suicidal thoughts and make me lay in bed the whole day. 2020... It’s been a year since I was fully discharged from the community mental health service and referred back to my GP. It’s also been 5 years since my diagnosis with Bipolar Disorder. I am at university now and it’s been a hell of a journey to get here. It would not have been possible without the support of the good family, mental health professionals and friends that I have now. My journey with psychosis began in 2016, after an issue that occurred online where I was stalked and harassed by a total stranger. I started feeling increasingly paranoid, and I felt like wherever I was, I was being followed. A few weeks later, I noticed that I was hearing things and seeing things that other people could not. I remember being in the car with my sister and telling her someone was in the back seat talking to me. There was nobody there. I spoke to my psychologist at the time and explained everything, who referred me to see someone who could explain more clearly that I was experiencing first-episode psychosis. It is now four years since my diagnosis and I have still not recovered (YET.. I have faith that I will be soon!) Head to the link in our BIO to read Danielles full story 💖
